Enjoyed a gorgeous ocean view lunch today at South Beach. The food was very good and the service was fine. We eat here often and always enjoy the upstairs view. The jambalaya is a bit spicy but good nonetheless. Great French fries are always ordered. I think it is well worth the drive to Cresent Beach to eat at South Beach.

My boyfriend and I came on a beautiful sunny July afternoon, it was a Sunday. Mid to late lunch rush, we easily were seated at a picnic table on their back deck. The beach view is perfect and they provide plenty of fans to cool you off. I've even heard that sometimes the sea turtles are visible from the dunes and will come very close. That was pretty much the best part of the dining experience here. Slow service throughout the meal, hard to order another beer or just get a water refilled, had to ask for silverware and side plates. Ordered veggie egg rolls that were on special for the week. Came out of a square black plate that was obviously dirty, as fingerprints were obvious around the rim. The lukewarm, apparently "fresh" egg rolls were atop a few leaves of slimy spring mix. Let down. My blackened grouper a top beans and rice was good although the accompanying green beans had an odd earthy taste that I didn't care for. All in all, the I would maybe to back for just drinks food and maybe venture out and get the fish again.

It's bad when the best tasting thing you get is your child's cheeseburger. Wife and I ordered the shrimp taco's, crab cake sandwich and the cheeseburger. The shrimp was hard as a rock, it felt like a scratched the top of my mouth open it was fried so hard. Crab cake sandwich was a big mush ball, I had to drowned it in the house hot sauce. As far as the cheeseburger, it was tasty but don't expect to have it come out the way you want it cooked. Apparently med-rare and medium (another child's burger) only come one way, BURNT. Came out well done and crispy. Oh and watch out for the servers they tend to drop your apps on the floor and spill mussel juice all over the table and everyone around (twist another one buddy!). The only reason for the 2nd star is because our waitress was awesome and the other peoples dishes at the party were just OK. I won't be going back.

First time there = 4/Second time there = 2/Average =3 I'm not sure how there could be such a difference in an arugula salad within a three-day span, but it happened. First salad was fresh, crisp and served as ordered - second, not so much. It's too bad because it's a great location, but I don't think that I'd go again.

Fantastic Cobia with mangoes was recommended by our waitress Sunny. She was right on it was absolutely amazing! Also had battered calamari and the batter was light and very delicious. My friend had butterfly shrimp and she especially loved the french fries. Highly recommend and the view is spectacular.

Everything is awesome. Had a little bit of everything but the story here is the conch and blue crab lump Chowder. Nothing here is done lightly. The drinks are a little expensive but they are stiff. The service is spot on and quick. You will not forget this dining experience. Great.

Blacken steak wrap, feria cheese, mushrooms, packing some real heat from a spice. Wife had a chicken salad, mixed greens, walnuts, fetia cheese that was good. Guana colodoa was good and $5.50 for big glass. The view from upstairs is overlooking the sand dunes to the beach and water. Fried calamari had to much batter, but was nice cuts. Total bill about $45 seems good for the area. So set upstairs if you want a view, looks like hit could be hit or miss for food quality. Limited parking next to the place, and the big lot can be full of beach goers.

Fantastic low-key, ocean-front dining. We've been for both happy hour and dinner. Both experiences were excellent. Good beverage selection, some craft beer on tap, great variety on the menu and awesome Key Lime pie.

had a wonderful lunch. crab cakes are always super and the new dish, swordfish with wine glaze. always a great place with a view of the ocean and very friendly staff.

Great location ! The food was good and the service was also good. I had grilled wahoo fish and it was done perfect. Kind of expensive (25.00) for sitting on a picnic bench.

I ordered alligator tail appetizer, a bucket of oysters and a couple St. Augustine Sugarcane vodka cocktails. The gator tail and cocktails were exceptional. The service was very good. Unfortunately the oysters were way over steamed. You basically shuck them yourself and do to the steam mine were as small as clams. It was okay but not really worth the price (for the oysters). I would try something else next time. But DO get the gator tail!

Excellent food, excellent customer service by our waitress sunny! We've been vacationing for 5 years in the area first time dining, it will be a much visited place for us in the future!

Good place for a beer and sandwich. The Mahi Mahi was a thin cut and over cooked. The cold subs are good. Duh. Good bar service but.... don't expect much from this tiki bar

After a greater morning at the beach we walked over for a late lunch. We sat upstairs with a great view of the beach and watched gopher tortoise dig in the sand while we waited for our food. The portobello mushroom taco was delicious and hubby's Thai shrimp taco almost as good. Zippy sauces were flavorful and really highlighted the mellowness of the portobello. I will definitely be back!

Great view - good service - food is average - menu has changed not as good as it used to be

  • Matt M.

Bad service overcomes great location. My family and I had lunch and drinks here the other day. Good beer selection and great location on the beach. Those are the positives. But there are a lot of great locations nearby which is the reason I am giving one star. If this place was in a random location I would give 3 stars. However in a great location with great competition you need to step up your game. And a gruff disinterested server who is burned out from serving tourist shouldn't work at a tourist bar.

We sat at out table for 10 minutes and watch waiters walk past us and watched other people get their orders filled..we asked the Hostess if there was a waiter for our table..she said she would get someone..I watched her..and she made no attept to find anyone for us, so we handed her back the menus and left. She clearly did not care...so sad to have your employees not care!

Great view and the kids can play on the sand on the beach. Food was good and the service too.

I had the California wrap with Shrimp and it was very good. The dressing was a light wasabi key lime and would not have been a go to in my mind but it was delicious. My husband got the portobello sandwich and he said it was very good too. The fries were light and not to greasy. We sat upstairs, inside and had a great view without the wind in our faces. It was a great night.

South Beach grill has pretty good shrimp and mahi let me just say that. We've eaten there three times this week. However our bill was way wrong (over $100 when it should have been $60), we couldn't find our waitress so I touched a waitress on the shoulder to get her attention and she yelled "don't touch me!" I was with my family and was so embarrassed. I finally got the bill corrected (with no apology) and later called. The manager/owner couldn't care less, and although I was very polite he was hostile. In Boston they would've said "so sorry" and probably comped me the dinner. I'm not just upset, I'm angry. There's no excuse good enough, even if he replies.

Came here late night on a Saturday, felt bad thinking they were about to close. Our waitress was great, made us feel as if they had just opened. The food was delivered on time and was amazing! My wife and I both had the thai shrimp tacos, although you only get two tacos, they taste amazing. The kids got a basket of shrimp and I believe it came with only 6 small bits of shrimp? Overall though, I didn't see the view everyone mentions as it was dark. Our service was prompt and amazing. The tacos were amazing. The ambiance was great. The kids food could use a little work. I would def. return when I am in the area again.

Good. Short wait. Loved the fish tacos. Corn bread was ok. I did not taste the spiciness in the description.

Right on the beach - the back patio has heaters and is good in winter but I wouldn't recommend in the summer because it's HOT. The food is good, especially breakfast. Definitely try the Huevos Rancheros, my favorite. Lunch and dinner I'd recommend the fish specials, it's almost always locally caught and very good. The service is ok, nothing special, sometimes friendly but usually just ok. They have a full bar. The environment is definitely 'come as you are' so expect to see people in every possible kind and of dress.

  • Lyndsay L.

We definitely enjoyed this place! The view was great and it was a nice touch that they had heaters on the patio, so we could still enjoy the beautiful view even though it was a breezy day. The food was just as good as the view! We enjoyed a hummus appetizer - the grilled pita and the fresh avocado was delish. My husband had a burger that was a special with chorizo and a fried avocado. SO GOOD! I had the blackened shrimp arugula salad with a passion fruit dressing. It was very good. My dad a new menu item/special gumbo. It had shrimp, chorizo and was full of flavor. My mom had blackened fish tacos. We all enjoyed our meals.

Service is average at best, but the food is fabulous! Sitting outside on the deck looking at the ocean while we eat dinner. Couldn't ask for a better view. One of the Fish of the Day choices is red grouper done "Crescent Beach style" with capers, Spanish olives, onions, and grape tomatoes. FABULOUS. Huge portion and it comes with fresh local vegetables AND a salad. Good cocktails, too!

  • Ana F.

We love coming here for lunch after a day at the beach. The food is pretty good but sitting outside is our favorite thing about this place. If you ever get a chance to be waited on by Tiffany you won't regret it! She's extremely attentive and sweet!

There are a few places to eat around this area, but it's few and far between. Often the quality and concept of food in Florida often centers around, so how hot do you want your BBQ? I would probably rate this at 3.5 stars overall. South Beach Grill though, in the few times I have been manages to at least deliver some decent seafood. While I broke my rule of fish on Monday, pecan encrusted flounder was quite nicely prepared, with a hint of sweetness tasty nut, and some sweet type of pork and maple? Fish tacos are ok, and I unfortunately miss the unusual local oysters that almost look like they are served on barnacles here. They weren't on the menu last time I arrived. Crab cakes though are a bit ordinary (hey I am from Maryland I know my crabcake and rarely order it outside of the Chesapeake) The place also has a great view of the ocean, and drinks are large and flow in plastic to go with the sun. It's a nice little stop, if you are trying to find something in the area.

Steamed vegetables were great! Fried shrimp was huge but very good!! Great environment right on the beach.

Amazing food!! Great fresh seafood. Wonderful view of the beach. Right on the beach. Would recommend the fresh catches and seafood jambalaya. Bartender was very friendly and helpful, both in ordering drinks (delicious sangria) and meals. Did get crowded, but wait time was short. Would definitely go back!

I stayed right down the street from this place and just happened to be starving on Easter Sunday at 8pm. No way in a million years did I expect this place to be open or actually be kick ass. The staff welcomed us warmly even though we came in 30 minutes before quitting time. Did I mention it was Easter Sunday? The soup was tasty, the salad was fresh, and the seafood was stellar. The service was rock solid also. We enjoyed this place so much, we came back the next night. They delivered that night too.

Food was fantastic and service was phenomenal! I had an opportunity to dine here for a graduation and birthday celebration for a party of 24 people. Each and everyone of the guests were not only satisfied with their meal but we were all very surprised that they allowed us to stay an hour past closing without mentioning their closing time. Definitely recommend this place to everyone we know. Thank you for the food, the atmosphere, and the service. It made our celebration even better than we expected.

Really surprised that we got right in for a table of 5 cause we read about the long wait. Sat out back with heaters which was comfortable. Had Mahi Mahi and was good. Others in group ordered steak which I had to steel a piece and it was very good. Food came out quick and wait staff was attentive. Would go back again.

Perfect location to go to beach. Wonderful food. Jambalaya was outstanding. Easy time to play at beach and get back on the road. Pretty views.

Pretty Dang Good all around. I am only giving it 4 because of the inescapable 30 minute wait time. It's always crowded here- get a reservation when possible. Their fried seafood is very good.

  • Phyllis S.

I am giving this restaurant a three based upon the Gumbo, which was not made correctly IMHO. It seemed to have marinara sauce on top of it, rather than it being made in the traditional way. Out side of that, the service was a five, everyone else at our table was pleased with their meals. And as so many people stated here previously, the crab cakes were delicious. Sorry about the three, but I would not recommend the gumbo to anyone

Sunny was an excellent server. The best we have had since we have been in at Augustine. Food was very good.

Convenient location to us so we go a lot. Breakfast items appear more consistent than dinner. I normally get the burrito with beans & salsa. Service is mostly spotty. Getting better as we've become regulars. The steamed clams on our first dinner visit were spectacular but they've yet to recreate them. Get their dining rewards card! The outdoor deck has heaters so it's a nice place to be close to the beach and dine. The upstairs ocean view room is often really bright in the morning.

You have a choice to eat inside or outside. We ate outside and felt fine they have tons of fans. Food was good. My husband had the fish tacos those were great. I hade the chicken sandwich. I didn't care for it.service was OK could be better.

Fantastic FRESH fish sourced locally. The sage/thyme/mushroom wahoo cannot be missed. Lisa was a wonderful server as well, making it a memorable occasion. And for dessert, the key lime pie gets our vote.

Five stats for a great beach restaurant. I've been coming here for years but I actually put it on my marginal list a couple if years ago. BUT it has really come up in tge world and I'd recommend it to anybody now. Locavores welcome - the food sources are identified. The location is wonderful, of course, and now the fresh local (but unpretentious!) seafood is up to the level of the view. It's smile but excellent! Nice place for kids up dig in the sand and adults to have oysters and great fish dishes and drinks on the deck. Try the conch chowder and the fish tacos!

  • Chan B.

excellent service, excellent food. I had the pan fried adabo flounder with 3 pepper salsa, My wife had broiled mahi-mahi, both were very good.

  • Erin D.

The setting was outstanding. We ate outside and saw the waves hitting the sand. I would definitely prefer eating outside if ever possible, the seafood was fresh and well prepared. Our son's burger meal delighted him. The service was friendly and attentive. The conch fritters weren't very appealing, the clam appetizer was fantastic. My husband had exquisite lightly fried shrimp-no grease and a sweetness to the shrimp that was delectable. My garlic and basil wahoo was tasty. The home made key lime pie was worth fighting over by adults ands kids alike. The turtle cheesecake tasted packaged. It seemed a bit pricey, but that ocean view was really amazing. Not a dressy place, but a great seafood place overlooking a gorgeous Crescent Beach.

Fish tacos are fantastic. Kids were happy with their meals. Great to have lunch and watch the ocean waves come in.

Service was extremely poor! Restaurant was packed and hostess was rude when I asked how long the wait was. Currently sitting at the bar and none of the employees/servers have a smile on their face. Waited a very long time for our food and had to keep asking for what we needed, need it be to order, a drink or our check... Very frustrating dining experience. Even when we got our appetizer we had to wait for silverware to even eat. In a nutshell our two hour dinning experience was very poor and although the food was good the overall experience was horrible and very irritating.

Really really pleased with our choice to dine here for mini-family lunch. Kid-friendly w/out sacrificing quality good & wide menu. Got wait-listed 30 min. out, took great photos w/staff member's help & felt like old Florida. Recommend:mussels, calamari, arugula & shrimp salad, grilled fish sandwich of the days & fish tacos! So glad to have found it!!!!

The fish tacos were terrific. We split the triggerfish and snapper (grilled) and both were perfect. The red beans and rice was really, really good. My friend had a seafood pasta that was fabulous. The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is the alligator tail. It looked like a processed mess and tasted worse. This was as bad as the rest was good. Won't miss it the next time we're down.

Steamer class overcooked and bland... Conche soup tastes like just tomato soup... Ok but could use some help on the menu

The only reason I'm giving this place two stars is because of the location. I just moved back home to st. Auggy and wanted to try this place again. The first time, food was mediocre. Pretty view. Went for lunch this past time before work. I ordered a Bloody Mary and the chicken sandwich (the one with pineapple and teriyaki) with fries. My friend ordered the spinach salad. Bloody Mary was awful. Waited 10 minutes for said Bloody Mary and it had no flavor and watered down (should've stuck to a beer). Waitress was not friendly or personable at all. After she dropped off our drinks, she came out with mustard and a ketchup bottle that looked like it had exploded. it was oozing ketchup from the top and was all over the bottle. The waitress looked at the ketchup and set it down on our table (I ended up using ranch for dipping because the ketchup was so dirty). Chicken samich was bland and very soggy. Fries were fries. Tried my friends spinach salad with vinaigrette, it was just okay. After choking down my samich, we asked for the check and waited about 10 minutes before the waitress came back. While we were paying, the waitress came back to the table, picked up the mustard and dirty exploded ketchup bottle and proceeded to drop them off at the table across from us. She looked at the ketchup bottle again, set it down on their table, and took the clean mustard bottle inside! Gross. Don't think I want to see their kitchen. After we paid, we walked to the front and left, without a "thanks" or "have a nice day" From anybody. The staff just stared as we walked out. Won't return unless its only for a bottled beer and everything else is closed. Bummer

This two-story beach house style restaurant overlooked the beach. The service was friendly and fast. I ordered the steamed seafood platter. It was so good and cooked just right! The price was even more amazing. So affordable. The only thing I did not like was the cold and dry wheat rolls they served us. YOU SHOULD GO HERE!!

Great salads! I had the arugula salad. Fresh and yummy. The blackened shrimp appetizer was spicy and delicious. All of our entrees were great - the South Beach pasta and fish tacos, along with kids' cheeseburger and chicken strips.

After spending the day in St. Augustine, passed on "recommended" restaurants and chose to travel south on A1A looking for an interesting place to eat. Ran across South Beach Grill and took a leap of faith. All I can say is it was an excellent stroke of luck. The fish tacos can be ordered with any of the daily catches. With fried grouper, they were outstanding. The fried fish combo was really good. Talapia and shrimp were outstanding, the crab cakes were just ok (too much filler) and the clam strips were very good. The special grilled grey grouper was very good. Service was a little on the slow side, but with such good food, we could accept a little slower service. The site is a beautiful location right on the ocean. Great place!

I wanted to take my wife and kids somewhere on the beach to celebrate Mother's Day. A Google search of restaurants around St. Augustine turned up South Beach Grill. I read some of the reviews on here, so was a little hesitant, but it looked like the best place to eat near the beach. Any closer to the beach, and you would be on it! We asked to sit outside and were quickly seated in the back seating area which, if it was any closer to the water, would literally be on the beach! Just off of the seating area is a play area for the kids, so that gave my wife and I some "us" time while the kids were playing. That was definitely a welcomed surprise! Our waitress was quick to take our drink and appetizer order, while allowing us enough time to look over the menu. She approached us a few times, but we just weren't quite ready to order food. Once we decided on what to order, she was quick to take the order and the food came rather quickly. I was impressed, especially since it was a little busy. My wife and I both ordered the fried seafood platter which came with a crab cake, fried clams, fried shrimp, fried tilapia, french fries, corn bread, and a small side of cole slaw. One review here said the crab cake barely had any crab in it. I'm not sure if they changed practice over the review, but our crab cakes were nothing but crab! They were delicious! The tilapia was breaded in a corn meal mixture and lightly fried. Coupled with the dill tartar sauce, it was excellent! The entire platter was great! I certainly have no complaints with our experience at South Beach Grill. It was a little on the pricey side, but that's what you pay for good seafood. The meals for our kids were in the $7-8 range and our platters were around $17 each. I wasn't scared by the price, as the food was well worth it and you get a lot of it for $17! We will most certainly be going back in the future! Visited May 2012

Excellent! Great view, right on the beach, dine inside, outside or upstairs (inside with great view). All fish is FRESH and. very well prepared. Try the swordfish or wahoo. Friendly staff, great service, comfortable bar. Great and I will be back again and again.

Show me a beachside restaurant with a nice cocktail menu & a patio that let's me take advantage of the ocean breeze and I will be happy as a clam. This apparently used to be a little hole in the wall diner that my fella used to visit while he was living in FL in college. So on our drive to St. Augustine, of course we had to stop in. My oh my, how I'm told it has changed. After making a b-line to the patio, we quickly ordered drinks. Ask about a melon spritzer. It was on their special seasonal menu and quite possibly ranks in my top three favorite drinks of all time. So refreshing & tasty - perfect for the beach! I downed three in less than 30 minutes. Also making the list of one of the top appetizers I've ever eaten were their black mussels. Ah! Fresh, delicious seafood! Makes me loathe living in a landlocked city and missing out on a dish like this! Yes, the patio is amazing. Especially for an out-of-towner like me looking to take advantage of being oceanside. I found it pretty awesome that kids could also enjoy the space, as there was a play pit with toys next to the patio. If lightning struck me dead right then and there, I would've died happy. The place is the quintessential beachside destination for all ages and was one of the most memorable stops of my trip to FL.

Time for our annual get together at the South Beach Grill in Crescent Beach, FL. Arriving at noon, it was busy, but we were immediately seated. Based on Yelp recommendations, three of us had the fish tacos. My wife, "seasonally challenged" thought the red beans & rice were too spicy. (I loved them!) It continues to be our restaurant of choice for casual, beach dining. FYI: not a spot for the important business meeting as conversing is difficult. Try the key lime pie!

For breakfast, lunch, or dinner; groups, kids, or a date this is a fun place to go! Only after 5 do you need to be beach-y casual. It's right off the dune so you get a beautiful look at the beach and the ocean. There is indoor and outdoor seating. Service is usually really good, only once out of the dozen time's we've eat there has the service been mediocre and it was obvious the girl was having "one of those days". Food is always great and if you ask they will make adjustments to menu items so they are just how you want them! Have been going there for years, and will continue to go every time we visit St. Auggie!

Location is awesome, patio is beautiful. Seafood is really good, other aspects of the menu aren't really anything to brag about. Really cute girls work there... so that's fun. :) Worth a visit

Great spot for a cold one after a day at the beach! Nice covered patio, lots of local craft beers, fish tacos were yummy. Fantastic ocean view from the porch and good service.

The sweet tea was terrible and the food was just ok for the $100 tab for five of us (three kids 9, 4 and 2.) My tacos were drenched in some mayonnaise based sauce that wasn't bad, but there was just too much of it. The food overall wasn't bad, it's just that the cost was too high for that quality. It is on the beach though and there's access to the beach to walk after dinner which is nice.

Love, Love, Love South Beach Grill! We can walk here from our favorite condo rental on Crescent Beach, so needless to say, we frequent it often on vacation. The location is perfect. Right on the beach, but close to beach access, so most of the time there is plenty of parking. They have a lovely patio with ocean breezes and a place for the kids to play in the sand (complete with sand toys!). However, our favorite place to sit is upstairs. Lots of A/C (great after being in the hot beach sun) and a marvelous view of the ocean. My favorite lunch is the Breakers Salad and a side of crab cakes. The restaurant is clean, the service is friendly, and the atmosphere is casual. They don't care if my kids get a little sand on the floor! Highly recommend!

Nice little local beach-shacky spot. We sat on the patio outside and had a perfect view of the beach and sand dunes. Ahhh. And there's nothing like sunbathing on the patio at the beach with a MIMOSA! One thing about this place is that they have the best mimosa I have ever tasted. The food was just okay; I ordered the early riser that came with eggs, sausage, toast, and grits. I ordered my eggs scrambled very easy and they came back scrambled hard :/ The sausage links were a bit undercooked, it felt like I was eating links of fat. However, when I asked for extra cheese they gave me a ton of it, so that pretty much offset everything else. They also have a full bar here which was a plus. I don't know about the other menu items but this is definitely a place to try at least for the scenery :)

We stopped and ate dinner here. We sat on the deck which has an awesome view. I ordered the seafood enchilada, concha fritters & house salad. The seafood enchilada was cold in the middle & when I told the waitress she just said she would get it reheated! The other food was ok, but I threw up everything about 45mins after leaving the restaurant. No one else in my party got sick. I will never eat there again! In addition, I was not given a discount for being served cold food!

With a great beach-side location and an ample bar, there is no doubt they do a good business here, and for the type of ocean-front bar and grill this is, their food isn't bad, either. That said, it's about what you'd probably expect for ocean-side in northern Florida on the Atlantic coast. I can think of numerous other places in St. Augustine I'd rather have dinner, but if you're at the beach and want something without driving far or else want some drinks, this is a good bet and they also serve breakfast.

Had the blacken grouper it was ok. Vegies were under cooked .service was good meal was over priced for a bar style restaurant

Remember, the view here is a BIG part of your dining experience. Make the most of it. The food is good, but lets face it, everything seems better at the beach. On a nice day, this place is always crowded and the service can be slow. So What?...you're at the beach on a nice day. Enjoy the slow service and the so-so food. Focus on spending quality time with your dining partner and breath-in the salt air. Relax. You'll walk away feeling like this was one of your best dining experiences all season.

Love South Beach Grill, always have. They have the BEST BREAKFAST in town, but get there early because they stop serving it at 10:30. The omelets are great, fruit plates, cheese grits, bagel sandwiches, etc...all is very fresh and good. I am not as big of fan of the dinners here, but I do love it for breakfast and lunch. The view is also very nice of the beach. It's a must-visit place if you are in town.

You could not ask for a better view in this area. If you are looking for lunch on the beach this is a nice place to visit. As for the food, I had a grilled tuna steak and it was very tasty. The restaurant wasn't too busy and the building could use some more signs but overall a nice place to relax near the beach

Just to update: their porch has since been screened in and is cool even on a warm summer night!

One of my favorite restaurants to go to when I am vacationing to St. Augustine. Love that I can eat great food and have a fantastic view. This was a very random find for us as my husband's family has vacationed here for years and never knew of this place. Definitely try this place. My only complaint is the last time that we went here, they had Sangria as a drink special and they were out when we requested it!

Only good thing about this place is that its literally ON the beach...so a great view and breeze....the food is pretty blah...its like applebee's but a bit worse... I suggest just having a beer or cocktails ....maybe a quick appetizer...because the food was just not special...AT ALL! and i really wanted to like this place... We ordered the buffalo wings, mussels, and I had some type of crab feast with a few diff types of crab and shrimp...not very fresh tasting or seasoned well...overall just blah what else can I really say for this one? So bottoms up here and don't order too much food you'll be sorry!

If you're staying in Palm Coast or South part of St. Augustine, I definitely recommend dining here. It is a cute beach shack type restaurant with awesome beach views. My husband and I ate here three times while we stayed in Palm Coast for a month. We greatly enjoyed dining in the outdoor patio with the beautiful ocean views. I recommend their fries and fish tacos. Lots of great selection on the menu, but I really loved the fish tacos (battered, not grilled!). The fish taco was a large portion and it tasted great, fish tasted real fresh. Prices were more than reasonable, very cheap in my opinion.

Nice casual place w/ view of the beach. Good selection. I liked the jerk sword fish and salad with mango poppy dressing. Fine for kids.

After searching and searching and comparing on Yelp decided to eat here which is walking distance from the in-laws condo at Beachers Lodge. Walked in and we were immediately greeted with smiles. After deciding to sit inside we were led upstairs to the dining area where we could watch the sea and discuss the plan for the next day. My wife had the Cordon Bleu Chicken Sandwich which was no longer on the menu at the restaurant but the waitress happily had it made for her along with a salad made with Salad Greens rather than lettuce and topped with Bean Sprouts, delicious. I had the Mussels, Datil Corn Bread, and Minorcan Soup, effectively making a dinner out of the appetizer menu, and all were delicious. The mussels had no grit and the broth they were served in made for great dipping with my corn bread. The soup was fantastic with good spice and nice pieces of ham along with conch. The dinner for three of us along with drinks cost only a bit more than our breakfast from down the road. I look forward to eating here again on our next trip to Florida and to St. Augustine. P.S. Save Room for Dessert!!!!! GET THE FRIED CHEESECAKE and BANANA with chocolate, raspberry drizzle.

Great food and great view from the 2nd floor overlooking the beach. We will be back.

Really good, fresh innovative seafood dishes. Gotta start out with the fresh shrimp (peel and eat, hot or cold). Also the fish tacos with hogfish blackened are out of this world. Right on the beach. They do it up right.

Clam appetizer was delicious. Called 1hour ahead (Sat night) and were seated when we arrived. All four meals were excellent. Blackened Mahi, seafood fried combo, Mahi with marmalade all good. Upstairs dining was best although noisy. Good bet.

This was the last meal we had and I am glad we picked South Beach Grill. The view was just awesome, we sat right on the glass overlooking the beach and ordered the steamer platter which was 3 types of crab along with a boatload of shrimp. I proceeded to spend the next hour cracking legs and downing mounds of flaky crab dipped in butter. I am pretty sure at one point I was in some sort of crab cracking trance because near the end of my meal I just remember some flying bits of shell hitting me in the face and then a pile of crab meat appeared before me. I can't attest to their other menu items but what I had was excellent and the view was outstanding.

We just discovered south beach grill. The first time we sat upstairs for dinner. There are windows all around so the view of the ocean is great. I had the fish tacos which were tasty and my husband had the fried fish combo and said it was good. Went back for lunch and ate downstairs inside to stay cool. The patio is open and is nice too. Again, We still had a nice view of the ocean anywhere we sat. The atmosphere is casual and service is great. Definitely worth the going here.

We absolutely love this place. We go here at least once a week. Great breakfast too on weekends. Staff is amazing. The view of the ocean is amazing, great indoor and outdoor dining. Highly recommend!

I'm surprised by some of these ratings 2 or 3. We have been coming to St Augustine for 20 years and South Beach is still our #1 restaurant. My wife always gets the pasta salad (with or without meat), and I get something seafood. This trip I got the fried shrimp and it was outstanding. We could eat there everyday. I think the food is prepared very well and most people would be surprised for a low key place of the beach. We have only had lunch here, and highly recommend it for lunch. Not sure about morning or dinner.

This place's food was so bad, I made an account on Yelp just to complain. Paying almost $15 for overcooked fake mahi (not hard to tell), with missing fixings, is sad. Keep driving and find some other place to eat.

My first meal here was a take out dinner tonight, consisting of crab cakes, fries, and a delicious and subtly spicy corn bread. The crab cakes were perfect, and the fries were significantly better than the norm. Great meal at a great price!

South Beach Grill was one of Father Dingo's favorite St. Aug restaurants. I enjoy it, too, partly because it reminds me of him, but also because of the decent food and beautiful beach setting. On my recent visit for lunch, I had the fried shrimp plate. It was tasty and was served with VERY good French fries (nice and crunchy) and a mediocre coleslaw (nothing wrong with it, just not *great*). B. had a crabcake sandwich and really enjoyed it. She didn't use much of the remoulade sauce that came with it, so I was able to dip my fries in it--YUM!!! S. had a burger which he enjoyed and which looked really good, and the young'un had the kids burger. The young'un was entertained by the kiddie placemat and some crayons kindly offered by the waitress. The waitress was also very responsive and kind when Yours Truly spilled a giant glass of iced tea all over out table, cleaning it up quickly and bringing the young'un more placemats on which to color.

The South Beach Grill was great! It was a nice surprise to find this place on the beach close to where we were staying. We sat outside on the deck at the picnic-table style tables and had a nice peek-thru view of the ocean. It was getting dark and there was a nice breeze off the ocean, so it was cool enough, but I can imagine it would be pretty miserable in the middle of the day - although there are tons of fans on the outside deck. The inside was nice and air-conditioned. There was a fun sand pit area for kids to play right in front of the outdoor deck. The food was delicious and service was excellent! We had salads, a pulled pork sandwich, blackened fish tacos and spring rolls which were all great... least favorite was probably the spring rolls, as they tasted a tiny bit like seafood (maybe cooked in the same deep fryer), but they were still tasty. Prices were definitely reasonable. This was a fun, casual place to grab a bite to eat in the area and I'm already excited to go back. It would be perfect for families or big groups as the tables are accommodating for a large crowd!

I'm not really a huge fan of salads; I never order salads in restaurants because I hate ordering things that I can make at home. Nonetheless, I ordered the Breakers salad while I was working in St. Augustine. Fresh greens (not just iceberg) tossed with candied pecans, craisins, cheese, and your choice of chicken or shrimp with a lemon poppy dressing...hands down, the best beach salad. Seriously considering driving two hours just to eat it again. FF: They don't take reservations, but they do accept call ahead seating.

This has consistently been one of my favorite restaurants over the past several years. We visit St. Augustine each May and one of the biggest things I look forward to is returning to South Beach Grill. The environment is extremely casual, right on the beach. You can sit inside (upstairs or down) or outside on the patio. There is also a retractable awning outside, so if the weather is nice, they will open it up completely. Just behind the restaurant, there is a big sand area with toys to keep the kids busy while the adults relax. Their standard menu is excellent... the crab cakes, fish tacos, and fajita wrap are unbelievable! They always have a daily specials menu as well and the fresh catches are great. I have never been disappointed in a meal! Then, just when you become somewhat depressed that your meal is finished, you glance at the dessert menu. Many of the options are very good, but I only dream of one of them for eleven months out of the year... the Peanut Butter Tower. Don't think about it, don't weigh your options, just order it. It's my favorite dessert, ever. South Beach Grill is our go-to dinner spot every time we're in St. Augustine. Do not miss out on this gem!

Great atmosphere and good food. Sit at the outdoor bar and have a beautiful view of the ocean (as well as a heater that will keep you warm on cool days). Great service too! We come here every time we visit St Augustine.

We came to South Beach Grill looking for a standard beach trip meal, full of delicious seafood. We were blown away! We had the fried dinner combo, the steamed seafood platter, one cup of each chowder (corn&crab and conch), and the peanut butter tower. Everything was amazing. Perfectly seasoned and juicy steamed platter, and amazing batter on all the fried foods. The fried plate was surprisingly not greasy, and the crab cake was good enough to write home about. The house tomato onion vinaigrette on the salad was also delicious. The peanut butter tower for dessert was a perfect ending, smooth and sweet. In addition to the great eats, the service is good and the view is unforgettable. We would recommend this place to anyone and can't wait to go back.

The past two years we have staid at hammock beach and made the 15-20 minute drive to south beach grill. The food is fantastic, some of my favorite seafood ever. Also has a lot of options for non-seafood eaters. The restaurant is right on the beach and has spectacular vies. A diamond in the ruff that will not disappoint!

There's more to this place than the view. If you can get a table upstairs along the windows, you're in for a treat. The views are excellent. But the food is very good. We're not talking upscale here, just good casual beach food. I always get a bowl of the Minorcan clam chowder. It's a spicy variation on Manhattan (I think). The burgers are very good too. I think my favorite is the fish taco platter. Two heaping fish tacos. The problem I have with it is that the fish chunks are fried, not broiled. They're tasty just the same, but I think fish tacos should be broiled. Their drinks are weak. Plan on getting a beer. I've always had good service too.

Stopped here on vacation. Very tasty food (we had the gator tail, fish with calamata olive topping, and fried fish), fast and attentive service, great view (right on the beach) and very casual atmosphere. What's not to like?

I was unimpressed by the place: my chocolate shake seemed to be made with chopped ice (too cold, poor flavor, crunchy), and it was in a glass so tall and skinny that it prevented me from finishing it (if I had wanted to). The rice with my fish taco was hard: try cooking fresh food! The taco was pleasant, but too small a dish for me. My dessert, however, was very good: Banana Cheesecake Xangos, a deep-fried dish in a soft tortilla crust with chocolate and raspberry sauces. They only gave us one specials menu, so I didn't see it till later; I would have tried a scallops special if I'd known they offered it. This was my second meal here; the first was somewhat better (gator tail, pasta, fried shrimp, and burger were pleasant). The place has beach views from upstairs, or you can eat outside next to the dune.

It's wicked here. You have perfect views of the beach. The staff is fun and friendly. Customers aren't uptight. Unless there's a mess of tourists there, it's a chill place to be. The food is so good and comforting, you can't help but feel happy and relaxed. There's nothing wrong with this place, except that it closes relatively early (10pm I think). But that's just good business for their location. The bathrooms are even equipped with two types of soaps, lotions and Purell (for you freaks, you know who you are). Did I mention the beach? Sigh. I can't wait to go back.
